Daily Makeup Look

I am not very adventurous when it comes to my everyday makeup. No bright liner or eye popping lip shades. I just try to stick to neutral shades like browns and pinks. This is mainly due to the prudish nature of my work place. You can be sure if I wore red lipstick someone will ask in a prying voice “going somewhere?” or worse, “who are you trying to impress”. (as if there are people worth impressing at work?. And, Yes! I do work in a dull, puritanical ivory tower, maned by grey-suit-wearing robots still sporting 80’s hairdos. What can I possible do to brightens up my day? I start with polished glowing looking skin, elegant eye makeup and warm toned lip finally a pop of pink on the cheeks. My top picks are:   

• GLOWING SKIN with YVES SAINT LAURENT LE TEINT TOUCHE ÉCLAT Illuminating Foundation SPF 19. I wear B30 for fair to light complexions with creamy tan beige undertones. I could possibly go with the BD40 which is for golden undertone. Overall this is a light foundation with a natural finish. I do set with a power and blot throughout the day, due to my extreme oiliness on normal skin this one will be alright. Most days it will holds up, only when the weather is super humid it starts to slide. This is available in most department stores or Buy it HERE

• ELEGANT EYES with BURBERRY COMPLETE EYE PALETTE in #02 Mocha. I love Burberry eye shadows. I have several colours in the single but I find the palette with 4 perfectly coordinated shades is the one I reach for most of the time. All Burberry eye shadows are densely pigmented, formulated with silicone to give it a smooth finish. All colours are extremely wearable. Only available in David Jones or Buy it HERE

• ELEGANT EYES with BOBBI BROWN GEL EYE LINER in Sepia. This has been a classic since it’s conception and it is the first gel/liquid liner I have ever tried (I put any sort of gel or liquid liner in the too hard basket prior this). I have tried few more brands since but always come back to the original and in my opinion the best. Sepia is a great neutral, easy to use colour for all occasions. Buy it HERE

• ELEGANT EYES with YVES SAINT LAURENT MASCARA VOLUME EFFET FAUX CILS Waterproof Luxurious Mascara. Waterproof and black are possibly the only prerequisites for me when it comes to good mascara. To accentuate my almost none-existent eyelashes, the only way is to curl with no other than Shu Uemura eyelash curler then a waterproof mascara to darken, lengthen and keep the curls in place. YSL do have fantastic range of mascaras especially waterproof, but the only down side is the price; forking out $50 for less than 9mL of mascara is just insane! so it is an occasional buy not a staple. Buy it HERE

• WARM UP COMPLEXION with HOURGLASS Ambient Lighting Blush. This is described as “ground-breaking” by Hourglass on Sephora, combining customised lighting effects of Ambient Lighting Powder with a spectrum of “breathtakingly modern hues” the result is multidimensional colour. Translation... its a pretty good blush and you will like this if you liked the Ambient Lighting Powder. I got this blush when it first came out in Sephora (US) and my cousin in US posted to me in Aust. I rank this blush highly because the colour is warm and luminous finish enhances the complexion rather than dominating it with shimmering or sparkles, like many other luminous blush. • WARM UP LIPS with Neutral Pink by HOURGLASS [Femme Rouge Velvet Crème Lipstick in Fawn] There are many reasons to love Hourglass lipsticks; one of them is that the lipsticks are refillable, throwing away beautiful packaging is just wasteful. Femme Rouge Velvet Crème Lipstick is a “lustrous, cream formula lipstick that hydrates and softens lips.” I would say this lipstick is is a lot more hydrating than my Chanel and Bobbi Brown lipsticks, but it doesn’t have the staying power as some of my other lipsticks. Reasons to keep buying is the beautiful wearable colour and the moisturising effects. Great for everyday on its own or super charge it with a rose coloured lip liner. Buy it HERE
