TOM FORD Eyeshadow Brushes

I have been searching for a great set of brushes to replace my old Chantecaille brushes which I had for over 10 years now. I have tried few different high-end brands but until recently have avoided Tom Ford brushes, because even at the high-end Tom Ford is considered pricey. However after reading many great reviews on Tom Ford brushes and nothing else really tickled my fancy, I have finally decided to take the plunge.

I purchased the Eye Shadow and the Eye Contour brushes first. I have to say they are fantastic, even at around AU$80 each they are worth every $. Then I purchased the Smokey eye and the Eyeshadow Blending brush, which are just as good. Now I am craving for more.... My next target will be the Blush Brush or the Eyeliner Brush.

Little bit about brushes in general. Tom Ford brushes are made from natural goat hair. Personally I prefer natural hair to synthetic hair, even though the new generation of synthetic hair are just a soft as natural hair and doesn’t shed as much as natural hair. I find natural hair, may be due to natural irregularity in each strand are better at picking up colour and better at applying colour in softer layers. The only time I prefer synthetic hair over natural hair is for cream products.

ABOUT TOM FORD BRUSH COLLECTION:
All Tom Ford brushes are made in Japan. The brushes have dark lacquered handle, in an almost black mahogany colour with golden ferrule and white hair, this combination of colour and texture really add a touch of glamour to the dressing table. There are 12 brushes in the range priced between $70 to $165 (AU).

THE EYESAHDOW BRUSH:
The eyeshadow brush looks scarily big compared to the brushes I normally use which are similar in size to MAC 213. Initially I thought I would only use it to apply base colour but the natural dome shape and the fluffy tip makes colour application surprisingly precise. I used the flat side to pat colour onto the lid then I use the tip to blend the colour into the crease and feather out. This is my go-to brush in the morning.

THE EYESAHDOW CONTOUR BRUSH:
The eyeshadow contour brush is different to any other brushes on the market, the tip of the brush is slightly angled, the brush it self is very densely packed but still very soft. This brush often gets compared with MAC 239 but I find the Tom Ford brush is denser and on application the brush has more movement than the MAC 239. This brush is great for packing colour onto the lid, the tip can be used to smudge out lines or to push colour into the v-area of the eye. This is a very versatile brush.

THE EYESHDOW BLENDING BRUSH:
The eyeshadow blending brush is very similar in shape to other blending brushes on the market, but what sets the Tom Ford brush apart from the rest is the quality of the hair. The tip is super fluffy which is great for blending out colour or even to take colour off if too much is applied. I use this to soften eye makeup looks.

THE SMOKEY EYE BRUSH:
The Smokey Eye brush is super soft and the end is slightly pointed which is great for applying highlights into the corners of the eye or smudging out lines to create a Smokey effect. Compare to the Eye Contour brush this one has more movement in the tip so it will create a softer look.
